In 2014 Xiaomi has introduced a fitness bracelet with an affordable price, known as the Mi Band. Equipped with a Bluetooth chip and run by batteries that can work effectively up to 30 days on a single charge and can be used as an alarm clock. In addition, it can also detect the sleep period, and was able to unlock your device without using a password. Next they introduced the Mi Band Pulse – the version that comes with a heartbeat sensor support. This year has introduced the latest generation of Xiaomi Mi Band to their features OLED display – Mi Band 2.
Still maintaining the design as previous versions with several upgrades such as the material for the strap to ensure Mi Band 2 module not easily detached and more durable. Mi Band 2 is equipped with an OLED display that shows time, number of steps, calories, heart rate, and battery capacity.
With a thickness of about 10.5mm it’s not so much what stand out when wearing it. The upper surface of Mi Band 2, Xiaomi said it scratch-proof and equipped with UV coating. At the bottom of the screen, there are buttons to select the mode that you have set. Like Mi Band before, this version is also waterproof and dust (IP67)
To connect your device and the Mi Band is easy. It still use the same application (Mi Fit) like previous Mi Band model. Mi Band 2 connected to devices using Bluetooth v4.0 (2nd Generation).
With the connection made, Mi Band 2 will produce vibration and visual display on the screen when you receive a call or a notification. Interestingly, you can set 5 applications and the notification will display the application icon on the screen Mi Band 2.
**We recommend that if you do not regularly use the heart rate display, please do not activate it. Because the mode selection button is very pressure-sensitive button and may be active without you realizing it.
Equipped with a 65 mAh lithium polymer battery, Xiaomi says it can last up to 20 days. But, from our usage it can last up to 16 days. Its depend how did you use it. For example, we enable notifications for WhatsApp, Telegram, Facebook, and Messenger and we receive many notifications from that applications, so it possible reduce the battery faster.
Mi Band 2, we strongly encourage you to have it. During our usage period, it’s really comfortable to wear also prices offered are still low compared to other brands. The feature on Mi Band 2 which we love is the time display because I no longer wearing watch. However, if you use the 12 hours format instead of 24 hours, there are bugs should fixed by Xiaomi. Where if the time is 12.15am, on 12-hour format must display 12:15, but Mi Band 2 shows 0:15. I already send a feedback regarding that bug, so i guess need to wait for them to fix it.
